I haven't made a post regarding this week's happenings before now, as I haven't been able to adequately put into words my feelings.
As someone who has experienced many traumas, been heavily medicated, and spent much time in therapy to come to terms with my past, seeing so many recount and relive their historic traumas over the last week in solidarity with Sarah Everard and every other woman who has been or felt in danger at the hands of another has been a heavy toll and very overwhelming.
I took a little time today to reflect on my own feelings and emotions regarding the events that are unfolding, and though I'm in no real position to offer safety or comfort to others, I wanted to have it written in a solid and tangible way that we here at Indomitable are proud feminists and supporters of women.
We're a safe and inclusive space for women. As such, we will not harbour any member who poses a threat, and we will not sit idly by in any circumstance where anyone is being made to feel unwelcome, uncomfortable, or unsafe.
You can always come to us with the knowledge and confidence that we'll take you seriously, regardless of the scenario at hand, and we will always investigate fully to ensure everyone's safety and comfort.
The gym is ours; it is here for all of us, and we want all of our members to feel at home when they walk through our doors.
Our inbox is open for anyone who needs to talk.
Megan.
