If you're a regular gym goer, chances are that you follow a lot of other gym goers on social media. While that can be a good way to garner inspiration during these times, it can also be a little overwhelming.
I know that personally, my Instagram is full of motivational posts and plans for home training and it seems like every other person in the world is still running at full capacity; they're training every day and there's no reason you shouldn't too.
I just want to say that it's pointless trying to stay on par with these accounts. If you're not motivated, that's totally normal. If you're not springing out of bed at 6am ready to do a full 60 minute bodyweight circuit, that's totally normal. These are unprecedented times and it is normal to feel as though your world has been turned upside down and if you need a break, take it. You're not expected nor obligated to continue to train right now. Don't put that pressure on yourself.
Obviously if (like me) training is your solace, you will still be training at least semi-regularly but again, be prepared to have no motivation some days. That is still normal. I wake up some days not wanting to train at all, the only reason I do is because I have personal goals in place that I'm not willing to compromise on. Every person is different; some of us will relish the extra time to get training in, some of us will find physical activity very low on the list of priorities right now. It's all normal.
I will say to try and move each day, just for your health and your mental stability. We are experiencing some very stressful and frustrating times, so just do something fun or silly that gets your heart rate up. Boost those endorphins and try to feel a little better. Anything is better than nothing, even if it's just walking the dog or following a yoga video on YouTube.
If you can't bring yourself to do that, it's fine. It's not for anyone but yourself at the end of the day. Do what you can, rest when you need to, don't punish yourself for falling "off track" during this pandemic.
If you do still want to get movement in, I have several downloadable home workout plans available for free in the "Shop" tab, I'm also offering video coaching and online training plans. If you can't train at all right now but you want to improve your nutrition, I offer nutrition coaching or there's an option for a single purchase protein recipe pack also in the shop.
If there's anything else I can do to help, please don't hesitate to get in touch. Otherwise, take this time to focus on yourself and your happiness, regardless of whether that involves training, dieting, or just treating yourself a bit more kindly.
