So, as some of you will know I moved to a new city over the weekend (and it’s beautiful) so I had a few days off the gym. I was worried that going back this morning would feel like a chore and I’d be tired fast, but I was very wrong. I woke up this morning full of energy, ready to start week five of my program at the fancy new gym I’ve joined.
The gym in question, MultiFit, is a lot more tailored to the needs of a powerlifter than the gym I was attending before the move. There are four separate squat racks. Four! I felt spoiled, really. There are many more duplicate sets of weights (no fighting over who gets them first) and more barbells than you can shake a stick at, so yeah, I was in my element.
The staff at MultiFit were friendly, the gym was super clean and well maintained, and the equipment was in very good standing. I had a blast.
Today’s session was both squats and deadlift, which I expected to be exhausting after weeks of only squatting once a week, but boy was I wrong. I think the few days of rest I had is exactly what my body needed. Today’s session was (seemingly) easy! I’m dreading bench tomorrow, as always, but this program is doing wonders for my stamina and physique as well as my numbers; my heavy set of 3 deadlifts today was 2.5kg lighter than my 1RM at the beginning of this program.
I’m feeling confident, and very excited to start competition prep!
