As much as it pains me to say it, I feel as though my time at Pure Gym is coming to an end.
This is not due in any part to the gym itself, nor the people I work with, but I’m beginning to feel that it’s no longer the best option to suit my needs and the needs of the clients I work with.
This is mostly down to the gym being so busy that it has become almost impossible to use the equipment I need, and waiting for something to become free is not ideal when you have multiple clients and a limited time.
So what’s the solution to this? Currently, the only thing I can really do is swap out exercises for something that works the same muscle groups, but when clients want to squat/bench/deadlift and are stuck doing accessory work (on multiple occasions) it becomes a bit of a joke, and I feel like I cant provide the service promised during the initial consultation phase.
That brings me to the second reason I am considering leaving Pure Gym entirely and moving to another gym; PT rent is going up. I found out last week that the corporate side of Pure Gym have decided to raise the rate for full rent (fully self employed, as opposed to being employed by Pure Gym) personal trainers to £600 a month. It‘s been suggested by management to raise my prices to reflect the change, but I don’t think this is a fair course of action, especially when taking into consideration to lack of available equipment, waiting times for said equipment, etc.
SO, I‘m considering moving to another gym close by, where I pay per session, not a monthly fee. I believe this will be the better option for me in regards to my business and progression as well as allowing me to provide a better service for my clients. I’ll update this blog with any updates and developments regarding the move, here’s hoping things turn out alright!
